January 2024 Board of Directors Meeting

January 11, 2024

6:30pm

Meetings are held virtually.

  • There were multiple emails sent to tell homeowners about this meeting, which was nice given the lack of communication about the last meeting
  • The board updated that the playground will be delivered this month with construction in the cell phone lot starting soon.
  • A few of neighbors had their airbags stolen out of their cars
  • A homeowner asked about the board being more transparent and communicative
    • There's confusion about when to email HPS and which emails to use
      • HPS is responsible for day to day management and community documents
      • The board can answer questions specific to community decisions
        • Jean Paul from HPS was quick to remind everyone that the board members are volunteers (yes... we are very aware)
    • The homeowner also asked if the community would be getting a website since there was a lot of talk about it over the past three years
    • The response from was to tell homeowners to 'email the board and that the email should be well known by now'
      • I'm not sure how this answers what the homeowner was asking
      • In addition to transparency, it would be great to see a board who leans on kindness and giving the benefit of the doubt
  • The amendments that were reviewed last year will be sent to the community after the lawyers have reviewed them
    • Homeowners who submitted them will find out if they have been accepted or not at the same time as the rest of the community, which still leaves the open question if they can appeal the decisions (as the process states)
    • The lawyers are supposedly reviewing a powerpoint that was created from the submissions... which leaves a lot out of context.
      • At least in the case for the items we submitted, we explained why were were requesting the change and what the spirit of the change was, to see that missing from the discussion leaves us a little worried. But maybe it's fine.
    • During the meeting, the board members kept stating that they were following the process but in an email to us, Jean Paul stated that they would not be.
      • When we followed up, asking for clarification from the board
      • emails were sent to the board on Dec 26th and Jan 11th (post meeting)
      • As of January 20th, the board has yet to respond to either email
  • Fine amendments were voted in at the last meeting and will take effect Feb 2024
  • Sweeps of the community looking for violations were supposedly completed but they are waiting to send violation letters until they can confirm that the violations haven't actually been previously approved
