After a delayed start, the playground broke ground in late April with a soft opening on June 5. It was temporarily closed on the 8th for landscaping and swings were installed on the 12th.
There is a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 14th from 5-8pm. Community members can expect games, music, and food trucks. They can purchase food from the pizza truck, while shaved ice will be sponsored by a local realtor and an [open] mobile bar serving craft beer, wine, mixed drinks, mocktails, and soda will be covered by the HOA.
...Did the board really decide the best way to celebrate the opening of the community playground is unlimited HOA-sponsored alcohol?! Could that money have been used toward nicer playground flooring instead? I can't speak for all people but our house could use less mulch/wood chips coming home.
When we contacted the board to inquire what safety precautions and guidelines were being set for the party, given the open bar, we were told that we clearly missed all of the other festivities going on and if we didn't feel comfortable going then we shouldn't... Which didn't feel the safest or most neighborly response.
